Parents of kids at Crosstown Elementary School speak out about their concerns and frustrations
At what point is enough, enough? And why does it seem that parents and families who live adjacent to The Downtown East Side are seemingly expected to be ‘okay’ with the increase in violence, substance abuse, physical assault and the constant detritus left behind by both drug-users and the homeless; at the doorway to the local elementary school, no less?
Voices are loud. Concern is palpable. But what is required for long term change and ‘harm reduction’ for ALL Vancouver residents, specifically the children attending Crosstown Elementary School? Most importantly, when did our Provincial and Federal Governments become so blinded to what is potentially the worst health crisis this country has ever faced. A crisis with far-reaching consequences.
